VACANT

VACANT is the final progression of the basic polycarbonate armoured wedge design that originated with VAGRANT.

VACANT

Power comes from two high torque Ripmax SD200 servos driving plastic wheels with super-grippy Dycem non-slip rubber tyres. The Varta NiMh battery sits between the two SD200s while the receiver, a basic Ripmax 3 channel FM unit, is glued securely to the front of the servos. In the front polycarbonate wedge is mounted a Toshiba DC platter motor from a high speed CD-ROM drive with a 5g disk. This motor is driven from an Acoms servo control board.

The top armour is flexible HDPE which is designed to deflect attacks by deforming and absorbing any impact. This robot was built for World Series 7, a competition in which it enjoyed moderate success.
